I'm responding to your question here, Alma :o) I hope you don't mind.
The type of bacteria that caused his meningitis is called streptococcus pneumoniae. It's a bacteria that often live in the body, around the nose and throat area, and don't do any harm. But sometimes it can cause meningitis if they get into the bloodstream and go into the cerebrospinal fluid or tissues around the spinal cord and brain. The bacteria can also be spread through saliva, and snot I believe as well.
My son had an ear infection and a cold just prior to having bacterial meningitis, and that basically weakened the barrier than usually prevents the bacteria from getting into the bloodstream. So that's how he got it.
What can I say I'm a down to earth girl that loves my family who support me and especially my son whom I love with all my heart. Freelance makeup artist. I love colors and learning new things everyday.
